New report: How to support survivors of domestic violence in rural Kyrgyzstan better?
In the past few months, we've dedicated our efforts to a significant research initiative impacting the lives of countless women across Kyrgyzstan. Our team invested considerable time researching programs geared towards aiding women who are survivors of domestic violence. Additionally, we conducted extensive interviews with various stakeholders, including survivors, crisis centers, law enforcement, advocates, and activists.

In March, we unveiled the culmination of our work: the final report. This comprehensive document, which delves into our findings and recommendations, was not only published on our website but also showcased at an in-person event held in Bishkek.
This report is a pilot introductory analysis of the current context of gender-based violence (GBV), domestic violence in particular, in rural Kyrgyzstan. In the report, we first highlight recent developments, both international and governmental, such as programs, projects, or initiatives related to GBV in the country; we then present and analyze case study findings, which consist of 15 interviews with domestic violence survivors from rural areas, and 15 interviews with professionals, including legal advocates, psychologists, healthcare workers, committee members, and law enforcement officials; in the concluding section, we provide recommendations to the state, donor agencies, and civil society organizations in Kyrgyzstan.
The project was supported by The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives.
CAB is for Open Data!
CAB is committed to the principles of open data accessibility. To further expand the reach and ease of access to our valuable datasets, we are pleased to announce that we are now depositing our data in external archives such as the Discuss Data Project and the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research of Cornell University.
By making our data available through these platforms, we aim to enhance accessibility for a broader audience and simplify the search process for researchers and enthusiasts alike. We believe that by taking this step, we can foster greater transparency, collaboration, and innovation in the research community.
